Warning Signs
Signs You Need Drain Cleaning
Drains rarely clog all at once. Most give warning signs for days or weeks before they stop completely, and acting early keeps a small clog from becoming a backup. Watch for:
- A slow drain in a sink, tub or shower
- Gurgling sounds after water goes down
- Bad smells rising from a drain
- Water backing up into a tub when a toilet flushes
- Several drains slowing down at the same time
- Clogs that come back soon after you clear them
One slow drain usually means a clog close to that fixture. When several drains act up at once, or the lowest drain in the house backs up, the problem is likely deeper in the main line. That calls for a different approach, and it is worth calling before sewage comes up into the house.
